Agent Eric Fleisher Sued for 'Smear Campaign'
Creation Management claims attacks on former employee caused loss of business
New York, December 14, 2001 -- Agent Eric Fleisher, is being sued by Creation Management, a Miami Beach entertainment agency, which is alleging a smear campaign on the part of Fleisher over a conflict with a former employee.
The former employee, Andrew Miller, was sued in 1999 by Fleisher for allegedly stealing his clients, including Minnesota Timberwolves forward, Kevin Garnett, according to a report by the Miami Herald. That suit seeks $30 million in damages and is pending in a New York court.
This most recent litigation, meanwhile, was filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court against Fleisher, his lawyer and public relations agents. Creation Management seeks $214 million in damages, the amount of capital the company claims it was expecting to obtain prior to Fleisher suing Miller. Fleisher said Miller enticed players by promising romantic encounters with models from an agency partly owned by Creation Management, after that company had hired Miller.
Creation Management owners claim that adverse publicity destroyed their plan to switch from producing David Copperfield magic shows, to representing various celebrities, including NBA stars enticed by Miller. The company charges Fleisher and his associates with launching a publicity offensive aimed at gaining revenge.
